Learn how to cook Swahili food

This is a rare opportunity to learn how to cook swahili food in a Zanzibar traditional way. This authentic experience starts with shopping at the local market in Darajani to buy the ingredients of the menu of the day with the assistance of the instructor. 

The menu may include “supu ya pweza” (octopus soup) or “urojo” for the starter and aromatic Zanzibar dishes like “pilau”, “biriani”, “kuku”, “samaki”, or “pweza wa kupaka” (chicken or seafood cooked in a thick coconut sauce), banana or cassava recipes for the main dishes; and “Kaimati” or “Visheti” for the desserts.

Once the appropriate ingredients are purchased, the instructor will demonstrate how the food is prepared and cooked with your assistance. Once the food is done, you will share the meal with your hosts.
