Chumbe
This secluded Island lies 8 kms southwest of Zanzibar town and directly opposite the Mbweni Ruins Hotel, and can be reached in short time in motorised boats. The Island has developed into a nature reserve and harbours one of the most spectacular coral gardens in the world and comprises: Chumbe reef sanctuary, Chumbe forest reserve, Historical lighthouse. Over 40 species of birds have been identified on the island including endangered roseate, tern which made its breeding place since 1994, an ornithological phenomenal. The Island boasts of 7 double bed, eco-bungalow is fully self contained with solar powered halogen lights, blends perfectly with the surrounding nature and situated between the beach and the forest. The state of the art of architecture was built on a local materials with mangrove poles and coconut leaf thatch and specially designed furniture developed in the island with colourful African fabrics. Facilities on full board including fresh juices and soft drinks, professional guides and snorkeling gear.
